Fright Barker and Sons
New York, NY - April 10th, 2017 - Formed in 2012, Fright Barker and Sons was originally purposed as a Halloween cover band between like-minded musical vets, however it was soon realized that there was something more to be done. Within the gritty confines of NYC’s East Village, they soon found their booze-soaked rhythm and honed original compositions. Shaped by the style of founding guitarist and honky tonk rebel, Charles Aceto (who most notably performed with Uncle Leon and the Alibis), current members include Pete Erickson (of Memphis Morticians) on the upright bass, D.W. (of Psycho Charger) on drums, UgLy McGlade (of Royal Noise Brigade) on main vocals, trumpet, and tenor saxophone, and Joe O’Connell (of Gotham City Mashers) on guitar.
Joining the core four, some rockin’, rotating horn accompaniment adds up to a sound somewhere between jump blues, punk, and swing. Those familiar with the Sons might liken their sound to Squirrel Nut Zippers, Ray Collins' Hot-Club or The Kings of Nuthin'.
Recently, the Sons released three singles, “Backburner Gal”, “Crazy Time” and “St. Ides”, available on vinyl or digitally through their website.
Currently Fright Barker and Sons are slated to play at the upcoming Heavy Rebel Weekender in July.
